Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani reacted to the current situation caused by flooding across the country.

Osmani thanked institutions and citizens. She said they are responding with responsibility, professionalism, and solidarity to protect lives and property during today’s heavy rain and floods.

She said she has stayed in contact with the mayors of the affected municipalities. According to Osmani, they are leading efforts on the ground in close coordination with, and with the support of, central institutions.

Osmani stressed that the Emergency Management Agency is working nonstop with law enforcement. She also thanked the Kosovo Security Force for its full readiness to provide immediate support. She said the force has placed its human and logistical capacities at the authorities’ disposal if needed.

“The situation requires maximum caution. I call on citizens to remain vigilant and strictly follow the instructions of the competent institutions,” Osmani wrote. She added that cooperation and a professional response are crucial to managing the situation successfully.

Heavy rainfall during the day caused flooding and rising water levels in several areas. The conditions created risks and the potential for material damage. Emergency services and local authorities are on the ground to manage the situation and prevent danger to citizens.
