Twenty-seven-year-old footballer Juljan Shehu was the latest guest of Prime Minister Edi Rama on the podcast “Flasim.” Shehu currently plays for Widzew Łódź in Poland.

The midfielder from Petrelë began his professional career in Albania with Kastrioti in the 2018–2019 season. After strong performances, he moved to Laçi. He stayed there for three seasons, from 2019 to 2022. He spoke about his path to the Polish club and the challenges he faced.

Shehu has become an ambassador for Albania in Poland. He has gained wide popularity. He said a Polish travel agency often tells him, “Every time you score a goal, we add another charter flight to Albania.”

When he returns to Albania, Juljan also brings many Polish tourists. They want to discover the country.

According to him, Poles strongly favor Albania as a travel destination. “Albania is the second most popular destination for Polish tourists,” he said.

Speaking about his early difficulties in Poland, such as learning the language, Juljan said hard work helped him succeed.

Shehu played 98 matches and scored nine goals over three seasons.

In 2022, he transferred to Widzew Łódź in Poland. There, he gained major recognition.

Juljan was born in the village of Petrelë, near Tirana. He loved football from a young age. His father, who owned a car service, supported him in following his dream and talent. Juljan is married to an Albanian woman, also from Petrelë.
