“For Identity and Dignity”, Albanians in Serbia to Protest on August 12

Albanian National Council of Presheva Valley, south Serbia, have announced a protest for Identity and Dignity on Monday (August 12), at 11:00 a.m.. The protest will be held in the center of Bujanoc!
Protest organizers have declared that the popular protest will be held due to the discrimination of Albanians by the state of Serbia.
With the motto, Come! For your own! For those who will come after us!, the chairman of the Albanian National Council, Nevzad Lutfiu, through a post on the social network, called for broad participation in this peaceful gathering.
Protest organizers write that though it has been 22 years since the beginning of the political battle for the integration of Albanians and 11 years since the drafting and approval of the 7-point Plan, Albanians continue to remain the most oppressed, oppressed and discriminated minority in the country.
Through the video message, while notifying the protest holging, Lutfiu, states that “Serbia’s discrimination against the Albanian community ” has reached the limits of racism”.
“There is no Albanian family left in our country without being affected by the residence address passivation process”. Through this passivation, according to him, Serbia is taking away from the citizens the right to vote. Therefore, he called on the responsible authorities to correct these serious violations without further delay.
Regarding employment in the state institutions, according to Lutfiu, qualified Albanians are being ignored while they are bringing employees from other cities of Serbia.
“Despite institutional efforts and international lobbying, despite commitment to preserve identity and dignity, Albanians are faced with closed doors and are turned a deaf ear on. The state and the governments in Belgrade have neither the will nor a plan to improve our position. Therefore, it is time to raise our voice. That’s why we have to protest, all together, without distinction, as discriminated Albanians” is written on social networks by the organizers.
