Foreign Ambassadors Expected at Kosovo’s Parliamentary Session

Foreign ambassadors are expected to attend the 52nd continuation of Kosovo’s constitutive parliamentary session on Friday.
The German Embassy in Pristina announced that this session marks the final opportunity to constitute the Assembly before the deadline set by the Constitutional Court. Ambassador Jorn Rohde, along with other international colleagues, plans to be present in Parliament.
“Given that tomorrow is the last chance to constitute the Assembly before the Constitutional Court’s deadline, Ambassador Rohde, together with fellow international diplomats, plans to attend the session,” the Embassy stated.
The Constitutional Court’s ruling requires Parliament to be constituted by 26 July. The Court has ordered MPs to complete the process within one month.
On Tuesday, President Vjosa Osmani addressed the Court, requesting, among other measures, a temporary suspension of the 30-day deadline. The Court’s decision obliges MPs to elect the Assembly’s governing bodies by 26 July but does not outline legal consequences for failure to do so.
Avni Dehari, who chairs the constitutive session, interrupted proceedings on Wednesday, 23 July. He claimed conditions were not in place to continue the session. The interruption followed an incident in which Democratic Party MP Ganimete Musliu removed Dehari’s microphone.
Following the disruption, Dehari suspended the session and rescheduled it for 25 July at 11:00. He did not call a vote on the establishment of the secret committee.
