Foreign Direct Investment Reaches €362 Million – The Highest Level Ever Recorded

In the first quarter of 2025, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Albania reached an all-time high. From January to March, the country attracted €362 million, marking the highest level ever recorded for this period. This sharp rise shows growing interest from international investors in the Albanian economy.
Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, welcomed the news. He stressed the importance of this achievement for Albania’s economic growth and long-term stability.
“Foreign Direct Investment has set a new record in the first quarter of 2025,” said Minister Gonxhja. “With an inflow of €362 million, this is the highest level ever recorded for this period.”
Official data highlight the top investor countries. Turkey leads with 13.8% of total FDI, followed by the Netherlands (13.5%), Italy (12.7%), Austria (8.6%), and Germany (7.7%). Investment focused mainly on the real estate sector, which attracted 28.7% of total FDI. This shows ongoing interest in construction and the property market.
Next came the finance and insurance sector, which received 20.7% of foreign capital. This points to rising confidence in Albania’s banking and financial services. The extractive industries remained strong, accounting for 14.1% of total investment. Meanwhile, both the manufacturing and trade sectors drew 8.8% each.
This record inflow of FDI sends a clear message: foreign investors trust Albania’s economic environment. More importantly, the continued growth of foreign capital brings jobs, improves infrastructure, and strengthens Albania’s integration with global markets.
