The Albanian National Olympic Committee (NOC) expressed condolences for the death of Spiro (Pirro) Koleka. He passed away at the age of 73. He was a leading figure in Albanian basketball.

In a condolence message, the NOC praised Koleka’s contribution as part of the “magic generation” of the “17 Nëntori” team, now KS Tirana, in the 1970s. That era marked a golden period for Albanian basketball. Koleka left a lasting mark with his talent and dedication.

Koleka later took his experience abroad. He worked successfully as a coach in the Italian league. He led the well-known team Victoria Libertas Pesaro.

The NOC said his contribution to sport, his professionalism, and his deep love for basketball will continue to inspire young Albanian athletes.

The Albanian National Olympic Committee extended sincere condolences to the Koleka family, friends, and the wider sports community.
