French Author, Eric Faye: I Will Continue Writing About Albanian Culture, the French Don’t Know It Well

The French writer Eric Faye, an award-winning novelist, has stated his intention to continue promoting Albanian culture.

Faye was one of the honored guests on the second day of the “Prishtina 2024” Book Fair.

“It is always a pleasure for me to come to the Balkans and feel that warmth, and I will continue to write about Albanian culture. Then, perhaps it’s a bit unfortunate to say, but I think the French do not know Albanian culture very well,” the French author was reported as saying.

This year’s edition features nearly 2,000 new titles from about 100 publishers from Kosova, Albania, North Macedonia, and the Diaspora. Mr. Faye is presenting two books: “Parij” and “Nagasaki.”

Faye has received prestigious awards for his works, such as the “Prix des Deux Magots” and the “Grand Prix du Roman” from the French Academy.

As a token of appreciation for his presence, the head of the Kosova Publishers Association presented Faye with a wooden eagle, symbolizing his connection to the Albanian world and Kosova in particular.

The Prishtina Book Fair, themed “The Answer is the Book,” will remain open until Sunday.
