Gonxhja: Ravel’s “Unseen” and “Boléro” bring contemporary dance to TKOB stage

The music of Maurice Ravel will meet contemporary dance on the stage of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet (TKOB) through “Unseen” and “Boléro,” two works by choreographer Andonis Foniadakis, as part of the fifth edition of the International Dance Festival of Tirana (IDFT).

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports Blendi Gonxhja shared moments from the performance, describing it as an artistic experience that explores two different dimensions of Ravel’s music. It moves from the intimate and reflective atmosphere of “Unseen” to the powerful energy of “Boléro.”

“Unseen” takes audiences on a journey through solitude, reflection and deep emotions. Meanwhile, “Boléro” gradually builds rhythm and energy before reaching a powerful stage climax.

Through choreography, the two works create a dialogue between music and movement. They also bring contemporary repertoire inspired by one of the 20th century’s most influential composers to the Albanian stage.

The performance will take place on Friday, October 9, at 8:00 p.m. at TKOB. It forms part of the programme of the fifth edition of IDFT.

The event adds to TKOB’s artistic calendar and will offer audiences an evening where music, choreography and stage performance come together in a distinctive artistic experience.
