Gonxhja:Toward a New Era for Cinema and Film

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, said today that the Tower Revitalisation Programme has entered its first evaluation phase.
Many towers face serious risks. They need urgent intervention. However, experts must first complete a full technical scan. They will check construction, location, and relation to other structures. A thorough first phase will help plan and budget future works better.
The programme has drawn strong public interest. The ministry lobbied to include more towers in the cataloguing process. The project focuses on northern and north-eastern regions. It aims to protect all valuable heritage.
Albania must apply successfully for European funds. The country pays an annual fee to stay eligible for programmes like Creative Europe. The ministry hired skilled specialists. It also asked SASPAC for help. Proper projects follow European standards. Funds exist for heritage protection, sustainable development, and revitalisation.
The ministry will manage tower revitalisation centrally. Past interventions by residents caused quality loss. Improper work forced the ministry to return some funds.
The ministry finished consultations on the new Cinema Law. Stakeholders agreed on amendments. The new agency will have a new structure and operations. The current National Film Centre is too limited. Soon, the ministry will replace it with a more flexible institution.
Albania’s film environment is active. It has many professionals. The ministry will soon publish an agreement with the French National Cinema Centre. The deal will support film production and bring more funding.
The ministry plans a free economic zone for the creative industries. The new agency will focus on this sector. If national incentives are difficult, support will go to controlled zones with production studios.
Securing international funds will create a new era for Albanian cinema and film. The country will gain stronger creativity, better resources, and a modern cultural industry.
