“Good Morning Albania” – Albanian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra opens 2026 season with a grand concert

TIRANA, January 15 – Albanian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra will return to the stage for its first concert of 2026 on the evening of January 16. The performance will take place at the University of Arts hall and will start at 19:00. This concert marks the beginning of a new artistic season after a busy and successful year for the orchestra.

During an appearance on the show “Mirëmëngjes Shqipëri” [Good Morning Albania] on RTSH1, Concertmaster Edmea Krasniqi said that last year had been both demanding and rewarding for the orchestra. She noted that the orchestra delivered high-level performances. In addition, she mentioned important recognition, including the Career Award.

Krasniqi explained that conductor Gridi Kraja will lead the January 16 concert. She added that the orchestra will perform a selected program. This program will include Beethoven’s “Coriolan” overture and Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings.” Moreover, it will feature Beethoven’s Piano Concerto, which guest soloist Elvin Hoxha Ganjev will perform.

She said that returning after a challenging year increases the orchestra’s commitment. Furthermore, Krasniqi added that such performances require careful preparation within the orchestra. At the same time, they demand attention to presentation for the audience.

Krasniqi emphasized the difference between gala concerts and regular symphonic performances. She noted that the orchestra aims not only to perform classical works but also to enrich its repertoire with symphonic arrangements of cherished Albanian songs.

She explained that gala concerts have a distinct format and bring the orchestra closer to the audience. In addition, Krasniqi highlighted that the orchestra often selects well-loved songs for gala performances. She stressed that symphonic arrangements allow Albanian songs to reach their full artistic value.

Looking ahead, Krasniqi announced upcoming projects. In February, the orchestra will perform under conductor Facundo Agustin. At the same time, soloist Laura Llozi will play the Sibelius Concerto. Krasniqi noted that this concerto is one of the most demanding works in the symphonic repertoire.

She added that collaborating with foreign conductors provides a unique learning experience. It also strengthens the orchestra’s cohesion. Finally, Krasniqi said that she feels fortunate to work in a professional and close-knit environment. She emphasized that the February concert will be one of the season’s most challenging.
