Greece’s veto against Albania falls, the EU drafts the letter to start negotiating the chapters

Greece joined the letter of the 27 member countries of the European Union that will invite Albania to open the first chapters of the EU membership talks.
Reliable diplomatic sources told RTSH that Wednesday’s meeting ended with the inclusion of Greece in the European decision on Albania.
As the Greek media themselves warned, Albania’s southern neighbor was not accepted by the European authorities to veto at this stage, which according to European legislation, left no way for Greece to superimpose issues of the treatment of national minorities on those of the rule of law.
In addition to the legal interpretation, another procedural aspect announced a few days ago, that of the compatibility review known as screening, results in the group chapter of foreign relations being closed without reservations, which also does not allow Greece to raise other claims in this stage which Albania is.
The drafting of the letter inviting Albania to this process is part of the preparation of the agenda for the December meetings, during which the official declaration by the European Council is expected too.
