Hajmel’s “Living Bethlehem” Recreates the Birth of Jesus

The Diocese of Sapa has made it a tradition to celebrate Christmas with a “Living Bethlehem.” The display brings visitors back to the time of Jesus’ birth.

Last night, dozens of believers of all ages recreated the city of Bethlehem in Hajmel village.

The community organized the event with skill. Residents welcomed visitors with traditional food, period clothing, and artisanal crafts. Moreover, the performance will continue on December 27 and January 2. Entry is free for everyone.

The event conveys a message of love. It also highlights simplicity, family, and peace.

Families from Hajmel, Nënshat, and Dheu i Lehtë volunteer to make it happen. Around 400 locals participate as live actors in this symbolic recreation of Christ’s birth.
