Haxhiu Promises Impartiality: Parliament Must Function with Dignity

Newly elected Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, delivered a message of unity and compromise in her first address after taking office.

She said she will carry out her duty with impartiality and integrity.

“I take this role fully aware of its constitutional weight and with deep respect for the will of the citizens who brought us here. I will honor this trust through daily work, transparency, and full dedication. Leading the Assembly means serving the Republic, the democratic order, and public trust. The Assembly is the political home of the citizens,” she said.

Haxhiu stressed that her duty is to ensure the Assembly functions with dignity, transparency, and mutual respect, in full accordance with the Constitution. She said every member will have equal space and respect.

“We come here with different political histories and views. But today we share one duty: to serve citizens with honesty and vision. Our differences are real, but our responsibilities are shared. I invite you to hold debates with arguments and keep disagreements within mutual respect,” she added.

Haxhiu also referred to the court proceedings in The Hague against former KLA leaders. She said she expects them to return home as soon as possible.

“The Albanian people’s sacrifice for freedom, including the KLA’s liberation war, is clear and just. We know who the aggressor was. We know who committed crimes in our country. Those crimes are documented and recognized worldwide. They were committed by Serbia, which has never faced justice. We expect the former KLA leaders to return home to their families as soon as possible. These prosecution efforts should end soon,” Haxhiu said.
