Igli Hasani Ends Term as Foreign Minister, Takes New Role in Parliament

Igli Hasani ended his term today as Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, calling the period a “historic and transformative stage” for Albania. He will now serve as a Socialist Party MP and chair the Parliamentary Committee on Europe and Foreign Affairs.
Hasani highlighted as key achievements the opening of 28 out of 33 EU negotiation chapters, hosting the European Political Community Summit in Tirana, and Albania’s first term on the UN Security Council. He said these steps strengthened the country’s role in Europe and the world during a period of deep global challenges.
“I am grateful to the dedicated staff of the ministry and our international partners,” Hasani said. “I look forward to my new role in parliament, with the same mission but from a new perspective.”
Hasani served as minister from September 2023 to September 2024.
