Integration/ Bulgarian opposition: Pave the way for negotiations to Skopje and Tirana

“If the Bulgarian government makes concessions to North Macedonia and submits them to parliament, we are ready to support them,” said former Bulgarian Prime Minister and leader of Sofia’s main opposition party, Boyko Borisov, in an interview.

Asked if the plan proposed by the new Bulgarian Prime Minister Kirill Petkov for the formation of a working group for dialogue would work, Borisov stressed that he could only wish it success and, if it needed support,we would give it to him. According to Borisov, Skopje has been told that it has two or three issues to be resolved, minorities, the Constitution to be changed, history to be clarified and then to move on.

Bulgaria has never hampered North Macedonia, Borisov claims, adding that it is not possible to join the EU and carry problems with it, so Sofia has only slowed down Skopje and Tirana. Not only Skopje, but also Tirana has its eyes on Sofia, as Bulgaria’s veto on Macedonia has blocked Albania as well.
