Interior Minister Ervin Demo highlighted the growing role of technology in public security and government services at the Future Tech 2026 fair. He said technology has become a priority for his ministry and an increasingly important part of citizens’ lives. Demo said technology now supports every area of State Police work, including smart cameras, modern forensic laboratories, cybersecurity, secure digital networks and advanced systems.

The minister also highlighted IdentiTek, a fully state-owned company responsible for producing and distributing biometric documents. He described biometric identity as critical infrastructure for a modern state. It supports citizens’ identity, the security of their movement and their interactions with public administration, banks and businesses. Demo said IdentiTek’s responsibilities also include the security, reliability and compliance of Albania’s identification system with international standards.

Meanwhile, Demo described Future Tech 2026 as an ecosystem bringing together technology companies, universities, the labour market, entrepreneurs and new sources of financing. He said cooperation among universities, companies and the labour market remains essential for the sector’s sustainable development. In closing, he linked technological development with Albania’s competitiveness and citizens’ quality of life and thanked the organisers and participating businesses.
