Italian Ambassador to Albania Marco Alberti said Italian investments in Albania have reached about 1 billion euros. He said the investments could create 600 to 700 new jobs. Alberti made the remarks during a visit to Korça.

The ambassador said Italy aims to give new substance to its strategic relations with Albania. He identified artificial intelligence, the digital sector and the defence industry as areas where Italy plans to expand its presence. Alberti also said stronger economic ties can support Albania’s path towards European Union membership.

Alberti said Italy’s presence should create opportunities for young people to stay in Albania, work and contribute to the country’s development. He stressed the importance of stronger bilateral relations and new opportunities for employment and development.

Meanwhile, Alberti said Italian diplomatic representatives are closely following the protests and recent political developments in Albania. He said an ambassador representing a state should not comment on such developments.
