Jorgji says Albania is attracting more interest as a location for international film shoots

The head of the National Center of Cinematography, Jonid Jorgji, said today that interest in Albania as a filming location is growing. He explained that more foreign producers now look at Albania not only for shooting films but also for opening large international production studios.
In a TV interview, Jorgji said this trend comes from several geopolitical factors in the region, Europe, and the United States. As a result, he stressed that Albania must act quickly before other regional countries take the opportunity.
He noted that Albania is now in a good moment to offer this industry what it needs. These needs include fiscal incentives, skilled workers, and simpler procedures for setting up production activity in the country.
Jorgji said he has led the institution for only three to four months, but he sees it as both a passion and a mission. He added that the Center has already taken two urgent steps. First, it created the Albania Film Commission office. This office promotes Albania as a film location and as a possible base for big international studios.
He explained that similar offices exist in many countries, even in small cities. For this reason, Albania needed a national office that could promote the country and act as a bridge to bring foreign productions here.
As a second initiative, Jorgji highlighted the opening of a career office. He said the industry now faces a shortage of human resources. Many well-known filmmakers are older and no longer active, and young people show less interest in cinema than before.
