Kadri Roshi, a star of the Albanian cinematography and stage, was born on January 4, 1924 in Ballsh, Mallakastër, in a family originating from Libohova. The actor experienced a troubled childhood, as he lost his mother at the age of two and was orphaned 10 years later when his father passed away too.

His career as an actor started at the age of 21 on the stage of the People’s Theatre. In 1951 he completed his university education in Prague. Upon returning to his homeland, Roshi performed his first roles in the National Theater. Since that time he counts about 180 roles on stage and cinematography.

He is considered by many as a legend of the Albanian stage and screen. He was a brilliant actor with an innate talent. In 1995 he was honored with the Career Award at the Artistic Film Festival, in 1997 with the Grand Honorary Award.

Kadri Roshi’s name will always be remembered as a giant of Albanian movie and theater, where he played prominent roles and figures that will never be forgotten.

It is estimated that the actor has played about 180 roles on stage and in cinematography, leaving an indelible portrait in the memory of television viewers and spectators. His roles range from the slave Aesop in the drama “The Fox and the Grapes”, to the guardian in the film “Poppies on the Walls”; from the prominent defender of the Albanian language in the film “Freedom or Death”, to the Old Man Mere in the film “The Man with a Ball”.

For his contribution to the art of speech and performance, Kadri Roshi was awarded the Career Award at the Artistic Film Festival in 1995, the Grand Honorary Award in 1997 and the Honor of the Nation award in 1999.
