The Center for Arbëresh Studies and Publications announced that renowned Arbëresh author Karmine Abate has just embarked on a book tour in Italy for his latest novel, The White Olive (L’olivo bianco).

His book The White Olive, freshly released by Aboca Edizioni, tells the story of three friends who stop to talk about a fire on the outskirts of town, but their conversation reveals a melancholic Calabria haunted by the specter of emigration and the mysterious disappearance of a young man.

Karmine Abate, born in Carfizzi, an Arbëresh town in Calabria, now resides in Trentino and is considered one of the finest contemporary writers of Calabria. With The Hill of Wind (Mondadori, 2012), he won the 50th Campiello Prize. His award-winning books have been translated into numerous languages.

Raised in an Arbëresh family, Abate is the author of many successful novels and short stories that have earned prestigious accolades, confirming his deep love and attention for his region of origin.
