Kearns Criticizes EU Stance on Ibër Bridge Opening: Punishing Kosova Reveals Unfair Process

British MP Alicia Kearns has strongly criticized the EU’s handling of Kosova’s Ibër Bridge opening. In a recent social media post, Kearns argued that penalizing Kosova for opening the bridge while ignoring Banjska shows that the process is fundamentally unfair and in urgent need of reform.

“Punishing Kosova for opening a bridge while ignoring Banjska suggests that the process itself is deeply unjust and requires urgent reform,” Kearns said.

She pointed out that the bridge should have been opened in 2017, as per the 2015 agreement. Kearns also noted that the EU has not taken substantial action against Serbia despite strong evidence linking Milan Radoicic and the Banjska attackers to the Serbian state.

“This was agreed upon in 2015 with a 2017 implementation date—why is this different from other agreements the EU enforces on Kosova? The new UK government and the new EU team need to clearly support building of bridges in Kosova, not roadblocks and divisions,” she asserted.
