TIRANA, December 10 – The Kosova Academy of Sciences and Arts marked its 50th anniversary today. The event gathered top political figures from Kosova and Albania, including Kosova President Vjosa Osmani, Albanian President Bajram Begaj, and acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

President Osmani called the academy a key institution for Kosova’s state and for political and cultural development. She said it protected language, culture, and national interest through five decades of challenging conditions.

She highlighted the academy’s role in connecting Kosova with global centers of knowledge and honored the first president, Esat Mekuli, for his lasting impact.

Academy Chair Mehmet Kraja said the institution shared the country’s difficult history and emphasized that its greatest challenge remains institutional consolidation and independence. He added that the academy actively supported political processes and the social and cultural development of Kosova.
