Kosova elections: Over 99% of votes counted

TIRANA, December 29 – With 99.26% of ballot boxes counted on the Central Election Commission platform, Vetëvendosje [Self-Determination] Movement secured 49.30% of the vote, or 429,979 votes. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party of Kosova won 21.01%, equal to 183,258 votes. The Democratic League of Kosova followed with 13.59%, or 118,490 votes, while the Alliance for the Future of Kosova received 5.68%, or 49,571 votes.
According to updated data from the Central Election Commission, authorities still needed to count 19 ballot boxes.
At the same time, voter turnout reached 44.99% of eligible voters, based on the latest update from the commission.
The results showed that Vetëvendosje [Self-Determination], led by Albin Kurti, emerged as the leading political force in the snap elections held on Sunday. Earlier, the party leader and prime ministerial candidate said during a media appearance that the result marked the largest victory in the country’s history.
Election authorities conducted the electoral process in 948 voting centers, with a total of 2,614 polling stations. They organized 910 centers with 2,557 stations for regular voting and 38 centers with 57 stations to enable conditional voting.
In total, 1,146 candidates competed for seats in the Assembly of Kosova. They represented 23 political entities that took part in the elections.
