The Central Election Commission announced that 46,015 citizens of Kosova from 46 countries registered to vote by post in the local elections for municipal mayors and assemblies.

Earlier today, spokesperson Valmir Elezi told KosovaPress that the Commission will publish the final data in the first week of September during the certification of the voter list.

From 23 July until the registration deadline on 29 August, applicants submitted 56,778 postal voting requests through the Commission’s electronic platform. The Commission approved 46,015 applications. It rejected 10,094 requests.

Elezi explained that most rejections happened because applicants did not provide a document proving their address outside Kosova. He added that the process did not exclude anyone. The Commission informed every rejected applicant about the reason for refusal and about the possibility to reapply by submitting the required documents.

The Central Election Commission reported that the municipalities with the highest number of registered voters from abroad, each with over 3,000, are Suhareka (3,458), and Gjakova (3,308).

Meanwhile, Germany registered 21,500 voters and Switzerland 11,024 voters for postal voting from outside Kosova.

Elezi said the Commission will publish the specific procedures for postal voting very soon. Voting will start on 17 September and end on 11 October.
