Kosova-Serbia Dialogue, Lajçak says that the association does not weaken Kosova, there are 16 European models on the table

The envoy of the European Union for the Kosova-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak has stated that the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority does not weaken the functionality of the state of Kosova.
Speaking for the Atlantic Councill, he stated that Kosova should see the Association as building the trust between Kosova Serbs and the Government and not as a threat.
“We are talking with our partners about existing models that are strengthening the functionality of states and not weakening them, so we think there should be no fear. Nobody has an interest in weakening the functionality of Kosova. We should see it not as a threat or a punishment or a compromise, but an obligation on the one hand and it should also be seen as building the trust between Kosova Serbs and the Government of Kosova and a clear definition of the relations between the Government of Serbia and the Kosova Serbs, according to European standards,” Lajçak emphasized.
Lajçak pointed out that there are 16 existing functional models that can be seen as models for minority rights.
“…we looked at existing models and I can tell you that here on my desk I have 16 European models, but I can’t list them. I don’t want to show that I’m doing favors for one side or the other,” said Lajçak.
On February 27, the Franco-German proposal, known as the European plan, was discussed in Brussels. This plan envisages to lead the parties towards a comprehensive agreement.
