Kosova-Serbia Dialogue: Sorensen Holds Talks with Chief Negotiators Bislimi and Petkovic

Just days after taking office, Peter Sorensen, the EU’s Special Representative for the Kosova-Serbia Dialogue, has begun discussions on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina.
On February 6, Sorensen held separate talks with Kosovo’s Chief Negotiator, Besnik Bislimi, and Serbia’s Chief Negotiator, Petar Petkovic, focusing on the ongoing dialogue between the two countries.
Sorensen shared the news through a post on the social media platform X.
“Today, I had separate discussions with both chief negotiators, Kosova’s Besnik Bislimi and Serbia’s Petar Petkovic. I highly value these productive conversations and welcome their invitations to visit Kosova and Serbia,” Sorensen wrote.
Sorensen took over his role on February 1, succeeding Miroslav Lajcak.
Under Lajcak’s five-year mandate, Kosova and Serbia reached an agreement on the path to normalizing their relations. Although not signed, the agreement is legally binding, according to the EU. The EU has criticized both Kosova and Serbia for not yet starting the implementation of the agreement, warning that delays could impact their European integration efforts.
The EU-mediated dialogue between Kosova and Serbia began in 2011. Several agreements have been reached during the process, but only a few have been fully implemented on the ground.
