Kosova, the new Albanian contingent joins the KFOR mission

Albania continues to stand by Kosova both in the military aspect and with the general mission to protect peace in the region.
Albanian Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi informs that another contingent of the Albanian army joined this week the International Armed Forces in Kosova (KFOR).
KFOR is a NATO initiative and this is seen as a contribution to the alliance with Albania being part of.
“Our participation in this NATO mission is a clear indication of Albania’s determination to help and protect peace in the region. Recognizing the great importance of KFOR for Kosova and the Western Balkans, Albanian Armed Forces are ready to serve alongside their international colleagues, confirming our role as exporters of global peace and security,” Peleshi wrote on social network.
The number of KFOR soldiers in Kosova was decreasing over the years, because the situation in the north has improving. But after the increase in tensions in the north of Kosova at the end of May, NATO has decided again to increase the number to avoid violent episodes in farthest north municipalities with a Serb majority.
