Kosovan PM Kurti in Austria: Economic Cooperation as a Strategic Necessity

At the Vienna Economic Forum, Kosova’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti participated in a panel discussion titled “Economic Cooperation is More Important Than Ever.”

In his address, Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that economic cooperation is not merely a political choice but a strategic necessity for both Kosova and the broader region. He noted that, like many other countries, Kosova has felt the impacts of global economic uncertainties and supply chain disruptions, especially in recent years.

Kurti highlighted that Kosova requires robust economic collaboration to navigate these challenges. He described Kosova as a small nation that exemplifies how democratic progress and economic growth can mutually reinforce one another.

Kosovan Prime Minister also stressed the importance of freedom of movement, pointing out that without it, the mobility of students and skilled professionals would be compromised. This, he argued, is crucial for attracting foreign direct investments and enhancing the economy.

Furthermore, Kurti pointed out that Serbia, Kosova’s northern neighbor, must permit foreigners traveling to Kosova to continue their journey into Serbia. He expressed regret that anyone coming from Austria to Kosova cannot proceed to Serbia without first passing through North Macedonia.

Vienna Economic Forum serves as a platform for political leaders, experts, and private sector representatives to discuss economic challenges and opportunities. During his visit, Prime Minister Kurti also met with Austria’s Federal Minister of Labour and Economy, Martin Kocher.
