TIRANA, January15 – Kosova’s President, Vjosa Osmani, said she is ready to move Kosova toward EU candidate status after meeting the European Union’s special representative for the Kosova-Serbia dialogue, Peter Sørensen.

She said the dialogue must focus on mutual recognition and equal treatment of both sides. She also noted that Serbia continues to breach agreements.

Osmani said that after the removal of unfair measures, Kosova will work closely with European partners to advance toward EU candidate status.

After the meetings in Prishtina, Sorensen will travel to Belgrade for talks with Serbian leaders.

She made her remarks as Kosova awaits the formation of new state institutions following the early parliamentary elections on 28 December, which the Vetëvendosje [Self-Determination] Movement won decisively.
