Kosova’s PM Kurti meets UK Foreign Secretary Cooper in London, stresses strategic ties and dialogue conditions

TIRANA, April 10 – Kurti met UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper in London at the start of his official visit. He thanked the United Kingdom for continued support for Kosova and emphasized shared democratic values and long-term cooperation. He described the UK as a key strategic partner and signaled a commitment to deepen bilateral engagement.
Economic priorities featured prominently in the discussions. Kurti highlighted budget growth alongside fair distribution of public funds. He pointed to technology and agriculture as key sectors of development. Defense investment and joint military exercises also formed part of the agenda. Cooperation with the UK on training and support for Ukraine was further underlined.
Security developments and regional tensions shaped another part of the talks. Kurti warned about threats from Serbia with Russian backing. He also referred to reports of 48 forward operating military bases near Kosova’s border. He reaffirmed Kosova’s strategic goal of NATO and EU membership. These concerns, he noted, directly connect to the need for progress in dialogue with Serbia.
Within that framework, Kurti outlined conditions for continuing the dialogue process and demanding extradition of Milan Radoicic and called for withdrawal of Ana Brnabic’s letter. He also insisted on implementation of the Ohrid Agreement. On the other hand, Kurti confirmed that Kosova remains committed to a legally binding agreement based on mutual recognition.
