Kosova’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, expressed his sorrow over the death of Ismail Kadare, stating that we have lost the greatest writer of all time.

Kurti remarked that the world has lost its greatest living writer.

“We lost the greatest writer of all time, and the world lost its greatest living writer. As we entered the second half of 2024, Kadare closed his eyes forever,” the Kosovan Prime Minister wrote on his Facebook profile.

He emphasized that our art and culture owe an immeasurable debt to Kadare’s immense intellect.

“Our eyes have seen and will see much better because of Ismail Kadare’s imagination and knowledge. When he closed his eyes and reflected on Albania’s mountains and the abysses of history, weaving thousands of pages with beautiful Albanian, we collectively saw more clearly, looked better, thought deeper, and learned more. Our art and culture owe an immeasurable debt to the ocean of his mind. The ship of Kadare’s novels will sail endlessly, as long as the world has readers and the Albanian language has speakers,” Kurti added.

Kurti also extended his condolences to everyone.
