Kosovo and U.S. Strengthen Defense Cooperation at AUSA 2025

Acting Minister of Defense Ejup Maqedonci met with Michael F. Miller, Director of the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency, on the sidelines of the AUSA 2025 exhibition in Washington, D.C.
The Ministry of Defense reported that Deputy Commander of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) Major General Enver Cikaqi, Kosovo’s Defense Attaché in the United States Sylejman Cakaj, and Colonel Ahmet Ajeti, Director of the Department for International Cooperation and Euro-Atlantic Integration, also joined the meeting.
Both sides reaffirmed their strong defense partnership and discussed ways to expand cooperation. They focused on military equipment and weapons procurement, which Kosovo has largely carried out through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. This mechanism allows Kosovo to purchase defense systems directly from the U.S. government, ensuring lower costs and higher quality.
They also reviewed upcoming procurement projects and discussed Kosovo’s ongoing support for Ukraine.
Miller praised Kosovo for signing the Communication and Information Security Memorandum of Agreement (CISMOA), calling it a major step forward in strengthening bilateral defense cooperation.
By engaging actively at AUSA 2025, Kosovo and the United States reaffirmed their shared commitment to regional stability, interoperability, and a modern, well-equipped Security Force.
