Kosovo Mourns Veteran Actor and Director Enver Petrovci

Renowned actor and director Enver Petrovci passed away today at the age of 71.

Born in Pristina on February 28, 1954, Petrovci studied acting first in Pristina and later at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. He became one of the founders and first professors of the Drama Department at the University of Pristina, shaping generations of young actors in Kosovo.

Petrovci built a successful career in theater, especially with “Atelje 212” in Belgrade, gaining recognition across the former Yugoslavia. After 1999, he continued his artistic journey mainly in Kosovo and Albania.

Alongside acting, he worked as a director and screenwriter. In 2024 he published his book Amanete zemre, written during his battle with cancer.

On stage, Petrovci shone in Shakespearean roles such as Julius Caesar, Macbeth, and Hamlet. His film career was equally active, with his last appearance in The Russian Consul (2024), a film depicting the Kosovo unrest of 1973.

Petrovci leaves behind a rich legacy in theater, film, and education.
