Kosovo Pavilion that exhibits the work of the artist Jakup Ferri, part of the 59th Venice Biennale until 27th November

Jakup Ferri has exhibited paintings, embroidery and carpets in a monumental exhibition. Ferri’s works are inspired by children’s drawings, folk art and so-called Outsider Art. The paintings and embroideries are based on the artist’s surreal drawings depicting everyday scenes, including animals, children, acrobats and utopian architecture. On the other hand, hand-woven rugs with geometric patterns are based on the designs of the artist’s son from the computer game ‘Animal Crossing’. Very often there is poetic interaction between people, animals and objects looking at each other thus creating lines of sight, like silent dialogues. Ferri, who collaborated with women from Albania, Kosovo, Burkina Faso and Surinam for his textile works, considers the making and embroidery of carpets as a technique of community coherence and well-being”.
This is the brief description that the 59th Venice Biennale gives to the Kosovo Pavilion that exhibits the work of the artist Jakup Ferri. Kosovo participates for the fifth time in this bienniale, often referred to as the “Olympics of the art world”.
Called “The Monumentality of the Everyday”, the Kosovo pavilion is open to visitors in the space known as the Gardens of Venice (Giardini della Biennale) – which is the main destination hosting pavilions from around the world.
The Republic of Kosovo is taking part for the 5th time in the 59th International Art exhibition which opened on the 23d of April 2022. The Kosovo Pavilion will be open until November 27, 2022.
