Kosovo Presidency: Court ruling confirms Osmani acted within Constitution

The Presidency of Kosovo welcomed the decision of the Constitutional Court of Kosovo, stating that it confirms President Vjosa Osmani did not violate the Constitution with her decree.
According to the statement, the Court found no violations in the president’s actions. Instead, it clarified that the country is heading to new elections not because of the decree, but due to the failure of the Assembly to elect a new president.
The Presidency also stressed that setting an additional deadline for this process did not fall within the president’s powers, and that her decree helped bring final clarification on the issue from the Court.
The statement criticized political claims of constitutional violations, describing them as misinterpretations of the ruling and a politicization of the situation. According to the Presidency, responsibility for the deadlock lies with members of parliament and their lack of willingness to reach consensus.
Finally, the Presidency called on lawmakers to convene as soon as possible and hold the session to elect the new president.
