Kosovo President Honors NATO and U.S. for Role in Securing Peace

Peace does not come by walking alone or by isolating. Instead, it comes through partnerships and alliances. President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, shared this message during a speech at a dinner organized by the U.S. Congress and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

First, Osmani thanked the United States and NATO. She said they helped bring peace to a region of Europe that had never known peace before.

However, she warned that peace is fragile. A few years after the Dayton Agreement and the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the same nightmare reached Kosovo. It did not appear only on TV or radio. Rather, it became daily life. It entered people’s streets and homes.

Therefore, as she spoke about peace and prosperity, she emphasized a key truth. Peace is not inherited. People must build it. They must nurture and protect it constantly. Most importantly, peace never comes alone or through isolation. It comes through strong partnerships and trusted alliances.

Next, she said she proudly represents the free and sovereign Republic of Kosovo. This is a land once silenced by war. Now, it speaks the language of hope, peace, and gratitude.

She also thanked the soldiers and diplomats who served in Kosovo during its darkest times.

Furthermore, she addressed the United States and all NATO partners directly. She said their support gave Kosovo the strength to move forward. It helped the country become the most pro-American and pro-NATO nation in the world.

Finally, she spoke to American soldiers who walked Kosovo’s streets and protected its towns. She assured them that their service will never be forgotten. They will always have a home in Kosovo. According to her, Kosovo’s peace and freedom remain deeply connected to their bravery. The country’s gratitude will last forever.

Osmani is visiting the U.S. as part of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly session. This session also marks 30 years since the Dayton Agreement ended the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
