Kosovo President Rugova honored on 20th Anniversary for Vision and Euro-Atlantic Leadership

On the 20th anniversary of the passing of Kosovo’s historic president, Ibrahim Rugova, President Vjosa Osmani honored his pivotal role in building alliances with Euro-Atlantic partners. She emphasized that Rugova’s vision still serves as a guiding light for Kosovo today.
During the wreath-laying ceremony with the Rugova family, Osmani described Rugova as the architect of Kosovo’s independence and the leader who united citizens around the cause of freedom, independence, and democracy.
She added that Rugova built these alliances with an extraordinary vision, which continues to guide efforts for a stronger Kosovo fully integrated into Euro-Atlantic structures.
“President Rugova united the people of Kosovo around the cause of freedom, independence, and democracy,” Osmani said. “This cause remains alive today thanks to the great sacrifices of our people, our liberation struggle, and the alliances he built with our strategic partners in the Euro-Atlantic community. His vision still shines as a guiding light for all of us who want a stronger, fully integrated Kosovo.”
Meanwhile, Fanë Rugova, the former president’s wife, expressed gratitude for the events honoring her husband. “I thank President Osmani for this ceremony in honor of Kosovo’s historic president, Ibrahim Rugova, and for all the activities organized today,” she said.
The ceremony also included the presence of QUINT ambassadors in Kosovo, who paid tribute to President Rugova.
