Kosovo, the de facto newest associate member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly

Kosovo has achieved a significant success by becoming the new de facto associated member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. The decision was approved by the Permanent Commission of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and will be formalized at the Spring Session in May in Bulgaria.
Member of the Socialist Party, Mimi Kodheli, Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee in the Albanian Parliament and Chair of the Socialist Group in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, announced the news on social media. She expressed gratitude for the support of American and British colleagues in the lengthy discussion that led to the approval of this status for Kosovo.
In the vote of the Permanent Commission, 20 deputies voted in favor and 5 abstained, thus ensuring the decision for Kosovo. Kodheli described this decision as historic and congratulated Kosovo on the success achieved on the path towards membership in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
