Kosovo’s President Addresses Assembly Deadlock After August Elections

President Vjosa Osmani commits to acting fully according to Kosovo’s Constitution and laws during the post-election process. She made this clear in meetings with the German and UK ambassadors amid ongoing debates over forming new institutions after the August 9 elections.

Osmani stressed the importance of maintaining institutional stability and respecting citizens’ will. The Assembly remains incomplete as it has yet to elect a Deputy Speaker from the Serb community. Speaker Dimal Basha declared the session closed, triggering legal and political disputes.

The Presidency’s legal team now reviews the situation. According to the Constitution, the Assembly must elect all five Deputy Speakers before the government formation can proceed.
