Kurti and Vucic meet today in Brussels

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandër Vucic, will meet today in Brussels, as part of the dialogue for the normalization of relations between the two countries, mediated by the European Union.

The meeting that is expected to be held in the evening hours is the first of a high political level after the agreement in Ohrid on the way to implement the agreement that was reached on February 27 in Brussels.

The head of the EU’s foreign policy, Josep Borrell, with the support of the EU’s Special Representative, Miroslav Lajcak, will hold a joint meeting with the leaders starting at 18:00, until it is announced that the meeting will focus in the implementation of the Agreement on the road to normalization between Kosovo and Serbia.

“The parties are expected to approve the Declaration on Missing Persons as the first item on the agenda, which will be followed by the presentation/discussion on the first draft statute of the Association/Union of Municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo. The parties will have also the opportunity to discuss current issues of political importance”, says the EU announcement.

At the end of the meeting that will be held in the building of the External Service of the European Union (EEAS), Borrell will have a statement for journalists.

Meanwhile, last night the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, wrote in a tweet from Brussels that the preparation for negotiations is complex and simple. According to him, complex because there is a lot of information and details, but simple because Kosovo’s wishes are clear, simple and noble.

For his part, Miroslav Lajçak, the European emissary for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, said that the next high-level meeting on May 2 will be a particularly important meeting.
