Prime Minister Albin Kurti emphasized at the Ministerial Council Meeting for European Integration of Kosovo, that the European Union should lift the measures imposed on Kosovo, which, according to Kurti, has fulfilled 70 percent of the planned reforms with the European Commission as part of its aspiration to become part of the bloc.

“The measures in force against Kosovo are in conflict with the region’s efforts for accelerated integration into the European Union, especially in terms of its growth plan and objectives. On the other hand, we continue our efforts to open up more opportunities within the framework of the reform dialogue in the EU. In this context, we have fulfilled all EU requirements for the removal of restrictive measures, and these measures should be lifted,” Kurti declared.

Meanwhile, Kurti expressed that membership in the EU should be based on meritocracy, noting that compared to the region, Kosovo, which he considers the most advanced democracy in the region, is ready not only for candidate status but also for the opening of negotiations and chapters towards European membership.
