Kurti Meets Kasanof: Kosova and the U.S. Share Common Values and Goals as Allied States

Kosovan Prime Minister Albin Kurti affirmed that Kosova and the United States share common values and objectives as allied states, highlighting the importance of Kosovo’s membership in international organizations and mutual cooperation with the U.S. government.
In a meeting with Alexander Kasanof, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for the Western Balkans, Kurti expressed Kosova’s constructive engagement in the process and the need for the prompt and complete implementation of the Brussels Basic Agreement and the Ohrid Implementation Annex.
Kosovan Minister also emphasized the necessity of regional cooperation ahead of the Berlin Process summit next Monday, addressing the importance of implementing the agreement on free movement between Kosova and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which benefits citizens of both nations.
During the meeting, Kurti thanked the U.S. for its collaboration in various fields, including the economy, energy, and security. He noted the democratic, economic, and social progress achieved during this governing mandate, particularly emphasizing the significance of security and the rule of law.
Earlier, Kasanof met with President Vjosa Osmani to discuss further strengthening the alliance between the U.S. and Kosova, the importance of close cooperation to achieve shared strategic goals, and the potential for deepening collaboration in areas of mutual interest, such as defense and security.
Kasanof is also scheduled to meet with opposition leaders and representatives of civil society during his visit, according to KosovaPress.
This marks Kasanof’s first visit to Kosova as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, a position he was appointed to a few months ago, as part of his trip to the Western Balkans.
