The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, hosted the Special Representative of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, and the advisors for foreign policy and security of the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, Jens Plötner and Emmanuel Bonne.
During the meeting, Kosovo’s willingness and readiness to engage in a principled and well-prepared dialogue was highlighted. In his speech, Prime Minister Kurti stated that the goal of the dialogue, from which the citizens of both countries should benefit, should be the achievement of a legally binding agreement with mutual recognition at the center. Kurti also thanked Lajçak, as well as councilors Plötner and Bonne, for their commitment to the full normalization of relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia.
During the meeting, they discussed the need for even more powerful efforts by all actors so that the European perspective becomes a reality for the countries of the Western Balkans. Lajçak has informed that in the meeting with Kurt, emphasis was placed on improving the dialogue with Serbia.
“We talked with Prime Minister Kurti for two hours about dialogue and ways to introduce new dynamics and advance this process. It was a deep and significant discussion, but we cannot give more details”, Lajcak said. After the visit to Kosovo, Lajcak together with the advisors for foreign and security policy of France and Germany, Emanuel Bonne and Jens Plotner will travel to Serbia to meet with President Aleksandar Vucic.
