Kurti: New Institutions Must Be Constituted as Soon as Possible

Caretaker Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that the caretaker government can operate under the 2025 Budget Law only until February. Therefore, he stressed that the country must constitute new institutions as soon as possible.
Speaking from Podujeva, Kurti outlined the steps toward forming the new government.
According to him, the future cabinet will include many of the names previously presented by himself and Assembly Speaker Glauk Konjufca last autumn. However, he clarified that the composition will not be identical and will also include new figures.
“There will be many of the names we presented earlier, but not the same lineup,” Kurti said. He added that preparations are underway to first constitute the Assembly and then quickly form the new government.
Moreover, Kurti highlighted several urgent priorities. Kosovo must ratify three international agreements with the World Bank. At the same time, the Assembly must approve the EU Growth Plan worth 882.6 million euros. In addition, he stressed that the 2026 budget remains the government’s most important obligation.
Furthermore, Kurti underlined that the caretaker government cannot continue beyond February. As a result, he said that the budget issue must be finalized within this month.
Meanwhile, when asked about a possible meeting with President Vjosa Osmani regarding the election of the next president, Kurti said that this step comes fourth, after the formation of the new government.
Finally, Kurti made these remarks during a visit to the “Isa Boletini” school in Podujeva.
