Kurti optimistic about the Kosovo-Serbia agreement: It is important to increase trust

PM of Kosovo Kurti will hold today a meeting in Brussels with the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic. Albin Kurti, expressed optimism that an agreement can be reached between the two countries within this year. In an exclusive interview for EURACTIV, Kurti said, according to him, this initiative will not be easy, despite the increased Western commitment.
“What has to be negotiated will not be easy at all since it is a mechanism for implementation, international guarantees and time sequence of what, how and when”, said Kurti.
For Kurti, it is very important to increase trust, because according to him, otherwise the agreements are not applicable.
“On the other hand, I hope that after we open the talks, based on the EU proposal, we will increase trust, because agreements are not applicable if there is no trust, so a certain level of trust is needed, “said Kurti, adding that “two thirds of the agreements signed in Brussels during the previous decades have not been implemented by Serbia”.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, will hold a high-level meeting today in Brussels, under the mediation of the European envoy for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, for the normalization of relations between the two countries.
