Kurti Urges Kallas to Fully Lift EU Measures

Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti had a meeting with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

Welcoming her to Pristina, Kurti thanked Kallas for her visit and the European Union’s support for Kosovo. They discussed Kosovo-EU relations, the European reform agenda, and the Growth Plan.

Kurti emphasized that alongside aligning Kosovo’s foreign policy with the EU, the country has made significant progress in internal reforms, as reflected in EU reports.

He thanked Kallas for announcing the EU’s gradual removal of restrictive measures on Kosovo but stressed that these measures should be lifted completely.

According to Kurti, Kosovo deserves candidate status as the most advanced democracy in the Western Balkans.

During the dinner hosted by Kurti, they also discussed the post-election process and efforts to form the ninth legislature’s institutions.

On the EU-mediated dialogue, Kurti underlined the importance of fully implementing the Basic Agreement and its Annex. He also reminded that Serbia must be held accountable for the terrorist and paramilitary attack in Banjska, and that the key suspect, Milan Radoicic—who faces a 160-page indictment by Kosovo’s Prosecutor’s Office—must be handed over to Kosovo.

Kurti raised ongoing serious violations of the rights of Albanians in Presevo, Medvegja, and Bujanoc by Serbia and called on the EU to take concrete actions to protect the rights of Albanians in the region.
