Kurti: “We have not given up reciprocity with Serbia”

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that the government he leads has not given up on establishing full reciprocity with Serbia. During Monday’s plenary session, Kurti stated that he also talked about reciprocity during the meetings he had in Brussels, within the framework of the dialogue with Serbia, mediated by the European Union.
“In these first 100 days (of government) we had a new director of Customs and we have to prepare because we can not fail again. You know, in Kurti 1, we established reciprocity and the subsequent government abolished reciprocity. If we do not manage to fully implement reciprocity again, then it dies out as a concept,” said Kurti.
Prime Minister Kurti said that Kosovo wants full reciprocity with Serbia to be done in such a way that it does not disappear anymore.
Kosovo at the end of 2018 had imposed a 100 percent tax on Serbian products. This tax, in the Kurti 1 Government, was replaced by reciprocity, which included a series of trade measures.
But the next government led by Abdullah Hoti abolished reciprocity, a move seen by the EU and the United States as an obstacle to continuing dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
