Lajçak for the Association: It is a sensitive issue for Kosovo, but the obligations must be fulfilled

The Special Representative of the European Union (EU) for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajcak, has said that the Brussels Agreement has been ratified by the Parliament of Kosovo, “making it an international legal obligation for Kosovo”.
“We understand that this issue is sensitive for the Government of Kosovo, but the obligations must be fulfilled”, said Lajçak, responding the question why the Association of Serbian Municipalities has not yet been formed, writes the Beta news agency.
As he said, “the position of the EU and the US and other international partners is that any further delay is unacceptable”.
He said that the EU is currently working on two tracks so that the dialogue between Belgrade and Prishtina can move forward.
“First, the priority is for both sides to agree on the EU’s proposal for the normalization of relations. Secondly, we continue to work in parallel to ensure the full and immediate implementation of all the elements of what has been agreed so far in the dialogue, which remain valid and binding for both parties”, said Lajcak.
