Lasgush Poradeci, born Llazar Sotir Gusho, died on November 12, 1987.

He wrote poems about love, freedom, and Lake Ohrid. His work holds a special place in Albanian literature. He used fine rhythm and melody. He explored love in over 100 poems. He mixed old words with creative language.

Poradeci was born on December 27, 1899, in Pogradec. He studied in Manastir and finished high school in Athens. In 1921, he went to Romania for higher studies. In Bucharest, he joined the Albanian patriotic movement and served as its general secretary.

He published his first poetry book, The Dance of the Stars, in 1933. In 1937, he released The Star of the Heart. He also wrote The Theological Excursion of Socrates, Mbi ta, and Kamadeva.

Poradeci translated world literature masterpieces. He worked on Pushkin’s Eugene Onegin, Lermontov’s lyrics, and poems by Blok, Heine, Mayakovsky, Mickiewicz, Goethe, Brecht, and Hugo.
