Letter to the US, EU and UK politicians, “not to repeat the mistakes of the past”

The Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Low Chamber of the British Parliament, Alicia Kearns has made public the letter signed by 10 chairpersons of the Parliamentary Committees for Foreign Affairs and 56 MPs, where they call on the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom to be more critical to Serbia, regarding the situation in Kosova.
“10 foreign affairs committee chairpersons and 56 MPs have called on the the US, EU and UK to change the approach to Kosova and Serbia,” she wrote on Twitter.
The letter sent to the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, and the British Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly, calls not to repeat the mistakes of the past with the Balkans.
The 10 chairmen of the parliaments foreign affairs committees and 56 MPs asked for balance and proportionality in the interaction between Kosova and Serbia.
“Kosova has faced significant repercussions following the efforts by Mayors to enter their offices in Northern Kosova. Kosova must coordinate with KFOR in the future to prevent escalations. But the lack of pressure placed on Serbia following the arbitrary detention of three Kosovan police officers and failure to hold account those responsible for attacks on KFOR highlights the current lack of even-handedness in addressing such flash points,” it is stated among others in the letter.
